Nik Hammarberg, a former employee, writes, that First Wave, Inc. folded in late January 2002:
"I regret to inform you that as of 1/21/02 First Wave Inc. has suspended all operations. We were in business for over 11 years selling our Flagship product Kiosk Communicator as a shrink wrapped software product and producing "Kiosks that Work" for our clients which included Disney, Kids R Us, Whirlpool, NASA, Ben & Jerry's, Motorola, and many others. In that time we met some wonderful people (both clients and vendors) and to all of you, thank you for your support throughout the years, we will miss you."
"The reason for our demise is immaterial at this point except to say that it had nothing to do with the platform we chose to use (exclusively). Everyone at First Wave believes in the Macintosh platform and we will all continue to use Macs in our daily lives. We would like to thank the members of the Macintosh community for all of their support and the great, truly innovative products that continue to come from the boardrooms and basements of the Mac faithful throughout the world."
