Trans Intl. today announced its new high capacity 2.5 inch 60 GB, 5400 rpm hard disk drive for Apple's portables. The drive is 25% larger than previous generation 48GB, 5400 rpm drives and features a 2MB buffer and 12 ms seek times.. An internal version with an ATA-5 interface support for up to 100MB/sec is $480, while an external FireWire portable unit with sustained transfers of between 20-35MB (with the Oxford 911 FireWire to IDE bridge chip) is $580.

    60GB drive

    MacNETv2 has a review up on IBM's Travelstar 60GH drive. Looks sweet and the price is right, $420.00. So this is not news, the IBM drive is out now and after all it is a Travelstar, a drive I can trust.
