Microsoft is conducting a survey for IT professionals and organizations or schools using Microsoft Exchange Server for e-mail and calendaring: "It would be great if Microsoft would produce a Mac OS X version and included Palm conduits."

    For the record....

this is *not* Outlook Express or Entourage. This is Microsoft's Exchange server client, used only in conjunction with a Microsoft mail server, typically in corporate settings. It allows you to share your contacts, calendar info, and company-wide address book with PC users. The previous version (8.x) would only allow you to pull mail from the server; the current one is much more featureful. It wasn't written by the Mac Business Unit, though, and in some areas it shows (the Exchange group did the coding), but it's an excellent way to keep your Mac from being ostracized by your company's IT support personnel.

A native version is very, very likely according to the IT group at my workplace (coincidentally, one of the largest Mac sites in the country and home to at least half a dozen Exchange servers), but it would still be a good idea for anybody who uses Macs at work to go and make your voice heard.

    Please take the survey!

The above info is good - please, if you use Outlook in an Exchange server environment, fill out this survey! We need to show MicroSoft that they are needed to complete the OS X migration. Office X is wonderful and looks great - it's the Mac BU that made it yes, but they could do this as well.
Please make your voice heard - stop the dreaded use of Classic.
BTW, MS has done a better job of OS X software than the so-called staples like Quark and Adobe, to name a few.

    Please make OutlookX

I have the only Mac in my company. My IT guy actually is willing to help me get on the VPN so I can get to my Exchange mail from home. But NO - the VPN client is OSX only, and can't work with Classic apps - and Outlook is ONLY available in Classic form. So it's all a wasted effort!

    Microsoft Exchange Server

My company uses Microsoft Exchange Server for e-mail. I just got the only Mac in the company (a dual G4 running OS X), and I am having difficulty figuring out how to connect it to the server. All the PCs are connected directly, using the server's LAN domain and host name. However, neither Mail nor Entourage appears to have that capability. When I attempt to use the available capabilities, I get error messages indicating that I'm using the wrong server port number, but nobody is able to tell me what port I should be using.

If anybody can offer any suggestions, I would certainly appresiate it.
