Dylan Neild notes an OS X knockoff theme for Windows XP: "Someone made a VERY ugly OS X theme for Windows XP... right down to the finder bar and the Apple icon. With any luck, someone from Apple legal'll see it and unleash the hounds on them... this is to ugly to be allowed to continue. Check out the number of downloads! 100,000 XP geeks would rather look at OS X all day."

XP Themes

That is a pretty bad example. There have been a lot of OS X themes available for XP. Here's an example of a better one:

looks like its from OSX. If they include that in the theme, they will deffinately be sued. On the bright side, for those of us who have both pc's and macs either by choice or force can enjoy the style of auqa on both machines. Personally, I am using a theme in OS X. The brightness of aqua is hard on my eyes. Check out a program called duality. It works wonderfully.

it's not ugly

Think of how mac mac users are forced to use windows at work. They can now use this theme to help endure life a little mlonger till they get home to their mac. I don't think the theme is ugly, and I like how Apple and MacOX are all over that theme. I think only people who love the mac or have an interest in the mac would use that theme. Those are the people we should embrace, not redicule.

Duality

Yes, Duality rocks! It's the closest thing we have so far to the ol' Kaleidoscope of OS 9 and prior. And there are more X themes being developed all the time. If anyone wants to customize OS X, I'd say give it a try.
As for that OS X WinXP theme, it's the damned ugliest piece of garbage I've seen in a long time! Heck, I'd take XP's "telletubbies" look anyday over that c***! (Luckily I don't have to use XP ; )

The page given in the article shows that three of the top themes are based on Aqua look'n'feel. Funny. Are there really that many mac-wannabees out there? Why don't they just go get one? Can you imagine an XP theme getting popular with OSX users? No?

At least THEY have the option. That may be an ugly example, but there's some pretty good looking stuff on that site. Helluva lot more variety than:

"Aqua, but with no lines"
"Aqua, but with square edges"
"Aqua, except there's no lines and it grey, so it's 'Platinum'"

Maybe Apple should trade one expensive lawyer for one creative programmer and give US the freedom Windoze has, rather than trying to take theirs away.

All you Mac users... there is a single two-word phrase that describes you people: A Cult. Stop looking for your identity in a piece of hardware and software. I am a full time Linux user, part time Windows user � and I�ll use a Mac if it is the right tool to do the job. Apple is becoming a corporate behemoth that will eat you all for breakfast (not unlike Microsoft, except on a bigger scale). It all comes down to choice... I cannot justify supporting Apple where it has full control over both the hardware and software aspects of their systems. This (in my opinion) is a monopoly far bigger than Microsoft could ever have. And there are all you poor souls supporting them� mindlessly walking into the pit of fire, drool pouring from your mouth.
