Evening tech news: c|net reports that a federal judge has granted a Microsoft request that would close upcoming testimony in its antitrust trial to the media. However, in a seemingly unprecedented move, district judge Colleen Kollar-Kotelly said she would allow the media to file court briefs in response to the request.

    No kidding

Wanna bet they have the Goverment and the White house on their side due to software control and freaking huge donations.

Makes you wonder what truth is out there..... like Bush, the White House and certain other folks who can also get away with huge profits from things like Enron.... yadda yadda

    Liberal Mac users

Wake up! The Dems took a lot of money from Enron, too. And when Enron came to THIS ADMINISTRATION with it's hat in hand asking for help, they were sent packing. Wise up and see how things really are instead of through your rose colored liberal eyes.

    Elephants, Donkeys,

it doesn't matter, but I understand the frustration.

Sherman Act violators are sentenced without regard to politics - the judicial branch is separated from the others for a reason. Furthermore, monopoly maintenance is to capitalism as suffocation is to breathing.

    Re: Elephants...

Uh...the judicial branch is appointed by either donkey or elephant administrations. To say that the judicial branch is apolitical is foolish!

Microsoft was found guilty of Sherman Act violations, lost on appeal, and they still haven't had to pay one dime as far as a fine for the stuff they were found guilty for!

Here's hoping whoever is the judge in the end will stick it to them big time.

Judge Jackson was as much of a fool as Ito for engaging the media during the trial as much as he did- and yet the appeals court unanimously agreed with his findings of fact. Now if only some teeth can be put into a sentence for said findings.

    Still holding out hope...
