MacNN Reader, 'Eric,' reports that Shaquille O'Neal appeared on last night's Fox Sports LA sportscast using an Apple iPod in the gym. "They showed Shaquille O'Neal working out in the gym and using his iPod, and he goes on to rave about it. Then they showed 2 Laker players, Sumaki Walker and Jelani McCoy take a limo and go to the Apple Store at the Mall of America where they purchased two iPods."

    $400 isn't much

when you consider at the Apple Store or CompUSA you can buy it six months same as cash.

    Lame argument!

Who puts a 400.00 item on a 'same as cash' plan? In the end, it's still 400.00! The real question should be why America is so obsessed with 'same as cash' offers? It only delays payments. Perhaps that answers the question itself; Americans want to have it now and deal with it later.

    ...BTW

iPod rocks. I've got one, and those basketball players made a good decision.

    plays

next thing you know, they'll be making plays (basketball, not Shakespeare :) on their new iBooks and saving their wild s**-n-drugs parties on iDVD. :-) How quaint!

    'Same as cash plans'

I assume these are where you buy now, pay in several months time. Used sensibly, of course these are a good deal. A basic understanding of ecomomics would tell you $400 in 6 months time is less cost than $400 now. It also gives you an opportunity to save for the item interest free over the coming months. Of course, the real reason for them is to try and tempt you into an expensive credit payment plan when your 6 months (or whatever) is up. As long as you're strong and resist this it's no problem.

    Maybe they've been...

spending too much time downloading MP3s and not enough time practicing. To lose to the Bulls, the Nuggets AND the Clippers... just embarassing! Phil, take away their toys until they get their sh*t together.
