MacResQ announced today the launch of a new repair service for Macintosh PowerBook computers. The service, known as PowerBookResQ, will provide PowerBook users in United States with a source for service parts and labor. "PowerBookResQ is the only service of its kind for out-of-warranty PowerBooks," said Shannon Jean, President of MacResQ. The cost of the program is $100-- this price includes 3-way overnight shipping, the initial diagnostic service, and the "PowerBox" shipping cradle, which the customer can keep.

    Rubber

Despite my three year AppleCare warranty:

I lost my right hand rubber of my TiBook for protecting the screen, but Apple nevertheless did not have these in stock, couln't order it, and the only option was to loose my TiBook for a couple of weeks! Since i work all over the world (that's why I bought a PoerBook in the first place: mobility! instead of a much better product for the same money, a PowerMac) this was/is not a option.
I asked to simply send the rubber (about one gram) but this was impossible...
Jeez, how I hate the "System" at those points!!!

    OS X and page layout

Well, OS X is great and I enjoy it, BUT it will not be ready for "primetime", (read as desktop publishing), until PhotoShop and Quark join in. Apple seems to acknowledge this by assisting Quark in their migration and poking jabs at Adobe.

While I agree that Quark has had some unrealistic practices when it comes to licensing, (I still remember the $25 fee I had to pay to transfer a version 3.x licence), I have way too many vendors that do not support InDesign, they would actually prefer Acrobat files to InDesign. I, and my work own copies of InDesign, but it still hasn't killed Quark yet. For business applications, give OS X another year then we will see some major leaps in DTP!

    re: email address

It's probably not set up yet. You can try postmaster@, webmaster@, or administrator@; at least one of those should be up by default. Or, try contacting a macresq address and see if they can give you one directly (shouldn't be a problem if they own the service)

    Credibility?

Tried to contact them and got a fatal error. Even if it isn't set up yet, I would think you would make your e-mail work on a public web page.
