    neat laptop, 1 flaw

it's not OS X compatible. Just kidding. The article mentions nothing of a CD-ROM-like drive so I assume it doesn't have one. (Wonder why the writer didn't whine about that. Everyone else seems to b*tch about Apple machines not having a floppy drive.) That wouldn't be completely bad, but then you have to use the PC-Card slot or depend on USB (God forbid) to connect a CD-ROM drive.

It does look cool, though. I like the silver and black look. However, it comes standard with a 2 hour batter. You'll need to purchase a higher capacity battery (probably add $100-200 more to the price, but then most people really want 2 just in case) if you want the usual 6 hour deal.

    cool laptop

unbelievably thin, and interesting looking. I have to ask though, how much flex will that body have, and will it have any effect on the internals?

    Bad taste.

Decent-looking for a Wintel, but it's ugly compared to the Titanium. 1" is compromising enough; 0.7" gives away too much.

    Portege

Porteges aren't new. they've been around for years. Whats new is that tosh stopped the 3xxx serie for the 2000 and 4000 series (the 4000 is bigger than the 3xxx were, the 2000 is slightly smaller)
The problem with the new machine is the 'shared' video: the Trident used in the 4000 uses teh main RAM instead of dedicated VRAM; the speed is FAR from good. And I'm questioning the use of bluetooth too..

    Toshiba Protege

Who needs it? It only runs Windows.

    Hm...

No optical drive mentioned. I hope you don't want to install anything on it. Seriously, when you compare what you get for $100 more in the Powerbook (the screen difference alone is worth more than that, and that's besides the G4 and combo drive)...suddenly $2200 becomes a pretty ugly price point for this thing.
