Adobe today announced the immediate availability of InDesign 2.0 software, an OS X-compatible version of its professional layout and design program. Version 2.0 also introduces editable transparency effects such as drop shadows, table creation, long document support, extensible markup language (XML) import/export support and a greatly enhanced printing interface. Upgrades to the $700 application are $100 for the next 90 days and $150 thereafter.

    Ummmmm....

Where is Photoshop... Photoshop should have been ported long before InDesign. I still can't use OSX 100%... I'm also waiting for Quark and 5+ "Apps" -as Steve would say...

    I want photoshop!

I also want they lagging team at Microsoft to get off their but and make an Outlook client for X.

Don't get me wrong. The Office team rules. But Their messaging team needs to take a flying leap! I wish they would just give the job to their Mac Office team so it would get done, and get done right.

    Great! But...

I just wish Adobe would release a downloadable demo of their new products at the same time they release it for sale. I don't want to buy ID 2.0 unless I can try it out, and Adobe's silly policy is always to release a demo MONTHS after the full product is out! Why!? I bet they'd get more sales if they allowed people to "try" it before buying it. Just plain dumb!

    OS X demo...

...they should update that demo, damnit... :P it's an expensive program and if hundreds (maybe even thousands) of printing and design houses are eventually going to make the switch to X they should take it into serious consideration... And yeah, I want OE5 X, too, Microsoft! Thanks(?)!

Yes, that would be nice, but due the way things work when designing software (at least at Adobe -- I know because I used to work there), the finished product must be completed before they can modify it to make a crippled demo version. Each separate release requires its own QA (Quality Assurance) cycle to ensure the best quality product.

    Hope that helps.

Sorry, but I believe that would be impossible. Most people don't realize the monstrosity that is Photoshop... we're talking millions and millions and millions (and possibly more millions) of lines of code here. Let them do it right.

    Goodie…

One happy bunny today. InDesign rocks (well, kinda creaks, but maybe they've sorted that!) and (finally!!) a downloadable Illustrator X demo -- Now I shall know whether to stick with Freehand or jump completely into the Adobe InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop caboodle and operate with just one set of keyboard shortcuts! Wahoo!
