Microsoft met income expectations, posting a net income of $2.84 billion on better-than-expected revenues of $7.74 billion for the December quarter ($0.41 per diluted share). Microsoft, which took a charge of $600 related consumer lawsuits, said it has sold over 17 million copies of Windows XP (computers installations and via retail) since the launch on October 25, sold 1.5 million Xbox video game consoles in North America, and that its MSN Internet servicereached has more than 7.7 million subscribers.

    No Way

There's no way to stop the monolith. It just grows and grows. 99.97% market share is still not 101%.

    WinXP Licensing Details

What they don't say in those figures is that most of those copies of WinXP are actually Windows 2000. They changed their licensing a while back and eliminated Win2k licenses, but adding a legal provision that allows XP licenses to apply to 2000... Meaning they can make their XP sales figures look much larger than they are (if you count by people using 2k vs. XP).

    It should read . . .

"including a $660 million charge for estimated expenses in connection with consumer class action lawsuits."

Expenses? That money should be going to the shareholders.

Why should the shareholders be responsible for criminal misconduct of Bill Gates (and that fat troll who runs/jumps/screams on stage)?

I think I'll buy a share of MS stock and confront the board about this at their next annual meeting. Anyone else want to join me?

I'm sure Ralph Nader would be happy to lead a shareholders lawsuit. Bill should be made to pay restitution to the shareholders of MS and be required to divest himself fully from the company.

You think this a joke, don't you? It's not!
