Wired News interviews a number of designers and their response to the new iMac design: "What we can't miss here is that Apple combines the different look with a different experience, or a configuration that matters to people -- in this case they're saying that this is the perfect 'digital hub.' The looks here signal that difference."

    Good article

It's good to hear opinions from people with design experience. Not the joe schmoe PC weenie who claims "that thing's ugly" over and over until the sales figures come out and then changes his tune.

    Re: good article

The on NPR's All Things Considered they echoed the Wired article. the expert could find no harsh words for the iMac, Apple's design team or Steve Jobs.

Robert Cringley is upbeat about the future of the iMac and Apple. He has mixed feelings about Jobs the man, but in the end he shows his admiration for what Jobs is doing.

There are people out there with a clue. There are people who understand.

This is the type of press Apple needs.

    it'll catch on...

A lot of people said nasty things when the first iMac was introduced too. Once they got used to it, it seemed more appealing. I think the same is true with this iMac. Although I think they perhaps should make it in some different colours, at least graphite (which would look very cool).

    Digital hub

With some modifications, I begin to see the new iMac as a potential digital hub in my house. It looks like a lamp.....maybe that is so it really blends in with the other fixtures and furniture in your house.

Imagine a touch screen with software that could let you control all the gadgets in your house just by hooking them up to your Firewire port. It's not some ugly pc that has to set in a closet somewhere but instead a beautiful piece of art...in fact maybe that is what it does...display your pictures like a slide show until needed for your input.

Apple is heading in the right direction...there is no joy in buying a commodity like a pc...but everyone has the money to buy the newest toy on the block.
