Epson has referenced the Power Mac G5 on its Swedish site, stating that its new series of laser printers are compatible with the "Apple iMac (and the) Apple G3/G4/G5/Cube (O.S 8.1 or later)." The company was not available to comment on whether the posting is an error, or a slip of confidential information. (check here for new link)

    much better evidence

Whatever that c*** scanner prog that said it worked on G5 was sorta shady, but Epson saying this sounds pretty solid. It's possible it was just a mistake, but...

I will keep my fingers crossed and hope this means G5 and SOON

    Epson?

Why would Epson have inside information on new Macs? Even if they did, it's no big suprise that the G5 is coming sooner or later. Still, if the page was pulled that quickly... Who knows.

    Duh.

"Why would Epson have inside information on new Macs?"

Maybe because they're a major supplier of peripheral hardware and as such they get new hardware and software in advance of the rest of the world so that they can make sure their stuff works when that new hardware and software is released? Don't you think maybe that's it? Of course, that kind of privelege would require them to sign and NDA, of which a slip up like this is clearly in breach. Which explains why they pulled the page already. Sure, it could just be a typo but I really don't find it unreasonable to assume that Apple will be releasing G5s real soon. Of course, that was pretty evident on Monday morning, this little Epson matter is insignificant by comparison.

Heh. No re-write required, they can't even figure this version out.

    G5

I wouldnt doubt a release of the G5's from Apple soon. I believe that Motorolla has anounced an expected release date for their embeded market for later this year. However, the use of the chips in a desktop computer is a showcase for their technology, and free advertising from Apple, and Apple will showcase the release of the G5 in a big way. Also, since Motorolla already has a customer for the G5, it makes economic sense for them to ramp up production first on the desktop chips. They have said nothing about this version of the chip to date, allowing Apple to make the anouncemnet. And all indications are that Apple has been directly envolved in the development of this chip, again they get first crack at it, and the "anouncement" rights.
