LaCie's new external FireWire drives offer sustained transfer rates of nearly 35MB/s using 7200 rpm (120GB) and 5400 rpm (160GB) mechanisms. Both FireWire drives will be available in February for $400 and $450, respectively. The FireWire hard drives include the LaCie 1394 cable, an internal international power supply, and LaCie's Silverlining Pro drive utility software.
