Dantz has released Retrospect Backup 5.0 preview for OS X, a much anticipated version of its backup software. The preview release, which is available in limited quantities on CD for Expo attendees, is available online, requires OS X 10.1.2 (which, however does not have the necessary support for SCSI CD-R/RW
drives). The preview includes client licenses for backing up 100 networked computers. Dantz says it will ship the final release of Retrospect 5.0 at the end of the first quarter. The final release will also run on Mac OS 9 and be available in French, German, and Japanese language versions. Version 5.0 also includes support for backing up files larger than 2GB. (Users must register to receive the required activation code.)
