Another year, another great white hype.

If it's just the new iMac (or whatever they're calling it this week) I'll be most disappointed.

    I don't know...

I would hope that Apple comes out with some cool new stuff! However, if they don't, I wouldn't fault them for 'causing too much hype'.

I'm sure that this year, just as with MWNYC 2001, they want to get attendance up. I thought with the 'I (Apple/Mac) NY' posters and such that something amazing was going to happen, and I let myself down. They are getting better and better with getting the word out about the expos. I can't fault them for that. If I interpreted their ad then who is to blame? The interpreter or Apple??

    Food for thought...

    The reason...

This may disappoint a lot of people as there has been so much antihype lately because of the er, shall we say overenthusiasm from the MWNY gig and the iPod launch. Everyone's treading very carefully on the speculations - or at least was until this new relatively high brow nudge and wink.

Here's a thought - what if the much rumoured Flat iMac doesn't actually exist? It could be 'bigger' than that. Now that'd be cool, or it could be smaller. Unless you worked on it, or happen to be a good pal of Mr Jobs, you won't know until Monday/Tuesday - and all will be well.

In case you didn't notice, my post woz kinda tongue in Cheek.

    I knew it!

I had heard this earlier but discounted it. Apple has invented a Segway-type riding vacuum cleaner!

It all adds up. "Blown away", Jobs' obsession with the Segway...

Your next Apple will suck like nothing before it!

    His entrance

will be on a Segway. Who wants to put money on it. I can picture it now, Steve Jobs' entrance to the stage, on a Segway. Bringing with him the pattened Steve Jobs reallity distortion field.

    Excitement

That's what it's all about. Enthusiasm about a company that's not afraid to stray off the beaten path in order to revolutionize the industry.

I may be gullible or a very good audience, but I'm very, very excited about this MacWorld. This is the first time EVER they use so much teasing. It is not going to be a letdown. It is not going to be a speedbump. It is not going to be just a new iMac. I predict 2002 is going to be a very, very good year for Apple.

Here's my prediction: Steve is so pissed off at Gates for his slimy government deal that he will introduce OS X for the Intel chip. That's right, the full GUI, not just Darwin. And along with it, a new low cost iMac using an x86 chip, for around $400 bucks. Steve gets back at Microsoft and AIM in one fell swoop, and makes a whole bunch of filthy luchre in the process. I love it! Call it XonX.

    OS X on Intel/AMD

    Kiss goodbye to Office.

    Kiss goodbye to Apple.

Unless or until Motorola go completely t1ts up, this would surely be business suicide for Apple? I am sure that they have OS X in some form running on x86 chips just as a contingency, but to p1ss M$ off too much would be very counterproductive.

For those of use delighted to use our Macs in a corporate environment where full interoperability with Office for the PC is essential (no AppleWorks please), the loss of Office would be a disaster.

    M$'s monopoly would be complete.

Goodbye innovation. Goodbye iPod. Goodbye iAnything. Welcome back beige.

    No thanks.

    Impossible to avoid hype!

    Apple's main page now reads:

"Beyond the rumor sites. Way beyond."

Man -- now it's impossible to think that Apple might have just been addressing that "other 95%" with the comments on their homepage! Whoa!!!

    Rumor sites...

I noticed that too then headed to the comments here. That's a pretty big "this is gonna be big" statement, isn't it?

I mean, there is nothing but LCD iMacs and G5s really being spouted off on the rumor sites.

I'm actually excited about this. We'll know soon enough, but speculation is fun. (Love the Segway idea -- why not! I'd get one myself if I could.)
