Evening tech news: Microsoft has asked the judge in its antitrust hearing to delay his ruling by another four months; A survey of IT professionals finds that most web applications that will be delivered in 2002 will use Java instead of .NET; Verizon DSL customers are appealing a judge's decision in their suit which alledges delivery of lackluster service.

    Delay ruling?

So M$ asked the judge to delay his ruling for four months... that must mean that we want his ruling AS SOON AS POSSIBLE! Go judge go!

    Delay in Sentencing?

Unless there is overwhelming evidence of harm to the consumer in the event of a expedient sentence, no.
MSFT is a convicted corporate felon. This has been reaffirmed unanimously by the Appeals Ct, and, by proxy, by the Supreme Ct. of the United States of America. The damage this predatory monopoly continues to inflict upon our economy calls for sentencing at an accellerated pace and for the prosecution of new criminal charges against the company's executives.

    New Mozilla

Did anybody try the new Mozilla? It seems a lot faster on OS9 than the last one I tried which was a release or two ago. The tabs are nice and it seems that the browser is coming along slowly but surely. Still has some serious issues though. I couldn't post anything here even after logging in, probably a cookie issue I guess. The rendering of forms is still unacceptable. All the buttons are straight out of Win95.

Anyway, I'm really glad to hear that .NET isn't taking off very quickly. Wouldn't be great if 2002 was the year Java really took off? With OSX being possibly the best OS in the world for running Java and XP being more or less the end of the road for Microsoft's Java support, it could win the platform a lot of respect from people who have historically not been fans of it. In the end, the government may drop the ball on the case but maybe MS has peaked anyway.
