Hitachi-Koki bring PPC to copiers/printers

Hitachi Koki Imaging Solutions is previewing Everest, an Internet-powered controller technology for digital copiers and printers, at the Business Technology Association's show in Las Vegas. The 200 MHz PowerPC-based Everest controller is being used in the company's i-copier and i-printer. In addition to accessing the printers and copiers remotely, users can also troubleshoot remotely via the Internet. Everest also includes 128 MB of memory standard; a 9 GB hard disk;10/100 Base-T Ethernet; and support for Adobe PostScript 3, PCL 5e and PCL 6. The controller supports multiplatform networks, including Mac OS, Windows NT, Novell and UNIX.
