Adobe barred from selling InDesign 1.5

A US federal district court judge yesterday filed a preliminary injunction order against Adobe, barring it from distributing its InDesign 1.5 page-layout software amid allegations of copyright infringement by PC software maker Trio Systems, according to Macworld UK. "The injunction affects InDesign 1.5, as well as the Adobe Design Collection, a software kit including InDesign, a company spokeswoman said. However, the company will continue to distribute the software outside of the US, where the court has no jurisdiction."

    Big Deal

When was the last time anybody cared about InDesign? Adobe taunted us with this "Quark Killer" for 2+ years before releasing the buggiest, slowest, most incomplete app they've ever produced. I can still hear Quark users laughing... including myself. They don't update it, nobody uses it, and now Quark is planning to release QuarkXPress for OS X soon.

    a. shut up...

    b. this isn't a forum for you to discuss your discontent with a product. you wanna do that, go to the general forums. discussions should be kept ON TOPIC, per macnn's request when you register.

that being said, i will now shut up. ;-)

    indesign will prevail!

How's this for on topic-InDesign already has been updated with features that still haven't and probably won't ever have. Every 1.0 product sucks. You must be using the Windows version of InDesign.

Besides, who ever heard of this other company that is holding Adobe up with frivolous law suits. Technology is bound to cross a few copyright lines these days. This isn't vanilla ice changing a queen song by one note and claiming it's a different song!

    Correction

Add "Quark" in that first paragraph in between "won't ( ) ever have". They should actually change Quark's name to that-Won'tEverHave 5.0 for OS X.

    Great...

I can hear Quark chuckling and rubbing their fat little hands together as they watch more of their dilapidated software get pushed out the door. Quark is pathetic. Their software is essential for the print industry, and they know this well. But when it comes to making their software user-friendly and halfway decent to look at, they're sadists of the highest kind.

how's that native pdf support coming? table support? (and no, a tool that makes unlinked text boxes that doesn't take ms word of excel text does NOT count) hi-res reviews? how about os x and os 9 support?

    Quark? Please...

I switched to InDesign almost immediately it came out, and sure, there were probs, but at least it meant I wasn't using Quark, which is expensive, ugly and talk about not "updating". (Even when they did, you felt like you had to buy the software all over again!) InDesign 1.5.2 has tons of features I can't imagine life without now, but 2.0 looks even better, and it's for OS X. It's my dream ticket, and I only ever have to been in System 9 to run Linocolor now, and that's not Apple's fault. Everything else works like a charm! I can't wait, me...
