    iPod Update

I downloaded it, and attempted to install it on my iPod which was purchased the day they were released, and the installer quits. Apple says that the installer may be disabled if the software on your iPod is up-to-date. Since, I was one of the first people to get the iPod, I am a bit skeptical. Although, I haven't experienced the sleep problems that this update is supposed to fix.

    Warning: ipod now dead

Just to let you know that I had a perfectly working ipod until I decided to run the update. No progress was being showed on the progress bar so I decided after 5 mins to press the CANCEL option. It now looks like this has killed my ipod and that it now needs to be replaced.

I believe you should warn users NOT to press that cancel button while doing the update. I complained to Apple about this since if that is the reason why it is now dead there should NOT be a CANCEL option available.

Ipod is now stuck on the welcome screen (apple logo with Ipod Title) and the HD is running constantly. Hard reboot of the ipod does not work (restarts but stays stuck there) Ipod does not appear on any desktops and HS can not be accessed.

I am furious that they did not think about warning users...like when you do a firmware update on a machine you can NOT stop the update in the middle so you also should not be able to do that on the ipod. I believed that is that option was available that meant that it was not dangerous.

I doubt that Apple will do anything besides replacing my ipod but I do not care about that now since I lost a week's worth of data (I backup on Saturdays)

Thanks for macnn by the way...great news source.
