Event would lay groundwork for future plans

Apple isn't planning to hold a TV-related event next month, says The Loop. The original claim was raised earlier today by Jefferies analyst Peter Misek, who said that "channel checks" pointed to a "product event" involving the Apple TV, and possibly rolling out an SDK for a future dedicated TV set. In response, The Loop's Jim Dalrymple simply writes "Nope." Dalrymple is known, however, to have reliable sources for such matters.

Today Misek also made suggestions that Apple wanted to release a 4.8-inch iPhone 6 in 2013, but that screen suppliers are having trouble scaling up from the current 4-inch format. The problem is specifically said to lie with yields of in-cell touchscreens, which are supposedly too poor over 4 inches, at least so far.

An iPhone 6 would actually be Misek's third predicted iPhone model. The analyst is anticipating a low-cost iPhone in June, and an iPhone 5S, which like the 4S would provide an interim boost over its predecessor.
