LXR discontinuing Mac testing application
updated 12:50 pm EST, Wed December 5, 2001
LXR is discontinuing its the Mac version of LXR*TEST 5.1, its integrated testing package for teachers and educators, because of the Mac's small marketshare. Josef "ScienceMan!" Martha writes "as a Mac-using educator, I’m tired of being treated like a second class citizen. They are perfectly willing to sell to the Mac platform, as long as we are content with a version that isn’t fully featured, and won’t be supported or updated."
"LXR*TEST 5.1 software for Macintosh will be discontinued on December 31, 2001. Any copies purchased prior to that date will receive the usual 90 days free technical support from LXR. Likewise, existing copies of LXR*TEST 5.1 can be upgraded, e.g. from Personal to Professional Edition. Updates can also be provided, e.g. from 5.1.3 to the latest and final release, 5.1.10.However, as of January 1, 2002, new purchases or upgrades of LXR*TEST 5.1 can not be ordered. The software will be available at that time in Version 6.0 for the Windows platform only...
"For schools wanting to use LXR*TEST 5.1 for the Macintosh, there is no real cause for concern at this time. Version 5.1 for Macintosh is an excellent product. However, the Mac version has become such a small part of the market for the manufacturer that it will be discontinued."

What a stupid company.
Its nice to see a company that is only driven my money. s**** its customers, they say so right there. Did they ever stop tot hinkt he reason for poor marketshare is because of a POOR product? With the stance they have taken here...it shouldn't be much longer till we see them closing their doors. One can only hope.
