    Why?

I'll never understand why people will pay two, three and even four times as much for the ViewSonic (and other) brand names when you can buy the identical tube and hardware in a generic case.

This same tube and associated harrdware (Mitsubishi DiamondTron Perfect Flat) is used by numerous manufacturers; the identical technology can be had for as little as $160 many days; $210 or so everyday (e.g., try Miradex.com).

The only companies who really do anything different with it were folsk like Apple, who added integal ConorSynch technology; a few ohters include USB hubs (big deal) or speakers (yuk!).

OK, so the warranty with ViewSonic is three years versus one with generics; but use a good credit card, and you'll double the warranty for free.

    Let's see. . . I can pay $300 for a 3 year warranty, or $160 for a two year warrranty. Hmmm... tough decisions. . .

Thanks bersirkintosh, but you missed the point; the same vendor ships the same technology in genric packaging for $205 everyday, and I've purchased from them and others for as low as $160.
