Apple lifts two-per-customer limit on iPhone 5 orders

Change could be linked to better supplies, Chinese launch
Apple has lifted a two-per-customer limit on iPhone 5 orders, observers note. The change was discovered in some of the boilerplate text at the company's website. A retail source reached by MacRumors claims that there is in fact a new limit, but that it includes up to 10 phones per order, and no lifetime restrictions. The same person comments that the old system had a 10-per-lifetime limit.
There are likely two reasons for the updated policy. Above all the company is now relatively well-stocked, and can satisfy larger orders without much trouble. Additionally, though, the iPhone 5 is scheduled to ship to mainland China on December 14th. Chinese smugglers are infamous for paying people to buy units at US Apple Stores for shipment overseas. Normally this is because of the delay in Chinese iPhone launches, but the 5 is going on sale in the country less than three months after its American counterpart.
