Apple makes slight progress in run-up to Black Friday
US and Canadian shipping times for the iPhone 5 have shrunk to two weeks at Apple's online store, checks show. It was only last week that times improved from 3 to 4 weeks to between 2 to 3. Apple may, however, be working suppliers hard to ensure it meets holiday demand for the iPhone 5, both online and at retail.
In particular Apple may be hoping to have units ready for Black Friday. Although they don't discount iPhones for their annual Black Friday sales, Apple Stores will still likely be hit by a wave of people wanting to buy the 5 as a gift. The best option may be using Apple's in-store reservation system, which lets people secure a phone at an Apple Store the night before.
