Tim Rand writes about the proposted settlement for Microsoft's antitrust litigation:
"I find it interesting that the Proposed Microsoft settlement for the Microsoft Antitrust Litigation includes the donation of Macintosh systems to schools. See page 24 of [pdf document] as well as other locations throughout the proposed settlement. What it doesn't say is anything about the proportions of non-Microsoft equipment. As well, where it refers to Macintosh systems, it is usually listed as ... or Pentium ... or some such alternative. There are a lot of references to Windows 98SE as the standard OS, but not a version of Mac OS. My guess is that all they would donate would be Mac Office and not anything else. Since this is a class action suit and as computer owners and users includes you and me, we should all review the settlement and give the Court our views of this proposed settlement."
