A MacNN reader writes about Apple's response to a note posted here about Apple shipping policies to FPO/APO military addresses: "In reference to my email last week about the MAC OS X up to date program shipping to FPO and APO military addresses. Today in the mail from Apple headquarters I received the boxed version of OS X 10.1. They do listen to the Mac community. Thanks to all for the support."

    Yep, I shipped him 1

Yep, I was the one he wrote back to here at MacNN. I shipped him a shrink-wrapped copy on Veterans day only to find out today that he received one from Apple. Cudos to Apple and I was delighted to have had the opportunity to send him a copy as well, albeit, Apple, beat me to the punch.

Makes me want to support Apple even more in the coming years, not that I wouln't do so anyway. **Big Grin** Thanks Apple for finding away to resolve the issue.

    Stop it.

Big pet peave of mine when someone likes to announce that they did somethign out of 'good will'. You were all over the boards saying you we going to do something when this topic first came up. Was your heart in the right place? Seems to me you feel it is important that everyone know about YOUR 'good deed' rather than the deed itself. If the person who received your 'gift' finds it fitting, they will show gratitude. But even if they don't...

Please re-evaluate why you are giving.

This topic really doesn't need any comments. Apple did the right thing.

    Sorry you feel that way

My apologies if I gave anyone the impression I wanted to be congratulated or that I may have over posted. However, I believe you are overstating the case. If memory serves me well. All my post were placed exclusively here with one exception. I noticed MacNN's news-tips of the fact that I heard back from the service man and that I would be sending him his copy ...an FYI courtesy message at best.

Prior to that, after reading the initial story, I placed 2 queries here asking for the service man's e-mail and military addresses in order to send him a copy. Subsequent to that, I heard back from him personally accepting my offer. I then posted that development here so others wouldn't feel the need to do the same. He later wrote back stating he had trouble posting in this forum and specifically ASKED ME to post a thank you for all that offered their help and so I did so.

My reason for posting the above "here" was to simply congratulate Apple for rallying to his aid and the goodwill I felt after reading both from him personally and from here that he had received his copy from Apple.

To my knowledge, these were the only post made. No post were made to the forums, or to any other site for that matter. Again, I'm sorry you or anyone else misinterpreted my intentions.
