Brother intros new laser printers, MFCs

Brother has introduced a new series of personal/small group laser printers as well as three new laser, flatbed multi-function printers. [updated]

Brother's new line of 5-in-1 monochrome flatbed laser Multi-Function Center, include the MFC-6800 ($500), MFC-9700 ($600) and MFC-9800 ($800), offering plain paper faxing, laser printing, digital copying, color scanning (600x1200 dpi), and PC faxing. The entry model MFC-6800, has a small, compact footprint; offers up to 10 ppm laser printing or digital copying; has a 200-sheet capacity paper cassette and a 30-page document feeder; and includes USB/parallel connectivity. The MFC-9600 prints at speeds of up to 15 ppm; has optional network connectivity, while the MFC-9800 includes an upgraded Super G3 33.6k bps fax modem with additional dedicated one touch dials,

Brother also introduced its series of new monochrome 1400 personal laser printers.  The HL-1440 (2MB of memory), HL-1450 (8MB) and HL-1470N (8MB) offer USB/Parallel connectivity improved performance and features including faster print speeds, higher resolution (1200x600 dpi), expandable memory, and an optional 10/100 networking card (standard on the 1470N).  The three printers are $300, $350 and $500 respectively. PCL4 is standard for the HL-1440 while PCL6 and Postscript Level 2 emulation is now also standard for both the HL-1450 and HL-1470N.
