    Macromedia's Online stor

It looks like on Macromedia online store you can only download them and not buy the box version yet.

    Ultradev?

When is UltraDev going to be available? For that matter, why are they bothering with 2 different versions? UltraDev is just DW with database stuff thrown in. It seems redundant to sell two products.

    Re: timings

You're right, the fastest distribution route is through online purchase, and this is available today. You can still order boxed versions but the CDs need to be pressed, tested, boxed, palettized, and distributed, true.

(I expect that the trial versions should be online sometime next week... it takes a little bit to insert the trial wrapper software, create new installers, stage on the new site and test all. Localized versions should be following quickly too.)

Dreamweaver and UltraDev are intended for slightly different audiences... the latter creates dynamic data-driven pages, but the core Dreamweaver application is for those who create regular static HTML files.

    Well, a little

I thought that the UltraDev database connectivity on the Mac was underpowered in 1.0, but I hope it will be better in this version. Visual InterDev is pretty good for database stuff, but all the other features were awkward and difficult. Dreamweaver is the king of the hill for html, IMHO.

    OS X Compatability...

I want to upgrade, but I'm not forking over my money until they carbonize it. There is no reason this application isn't carbonized yet. They demonstrated Dreamweaver for OS X back in July at MWNY. Macromedia should at least be a bit more forthcoming with their timetable for OS X software releases, and whether or not they will be free upgrades to the people who already own the current shipping versions...

    Interdev with Dreamweaver

Interdev in corrolation with Dreamweaver is the best IMO. You just do all the design in Dreamweaver, then open your pages in Interdev to add the database code. That's how we did MacMonkey.com

Get screwed. We have to pay the same $199 even though we paid for the full package in the beginning.

    dreamweaver online trial

dear macromedia, it would be a wonderful world if you had help files for your trial versions available for download. how can anyone really evaluate your software without the knowledge included in the help files? plus, in a business setting where someone is trying to justify the purchase of your products, demonstrating a practical and useful help system could be the clincher.

    Unreasonable upgrade cost

Perhaps it's just me, but I find that I'm spending $200 every year to upgrade to the latest, greatest version of applications all too often. The problem is that when you're using 25-30 applications intensively, it can add up to a h*** of alot of money. I'm looking at the feature set carefully before plunking down the cash for this one.
