Imation introduces new media storage options

Imation today announced new Travan 40GB tape cartridges based on the seventh generation of Travan technology. The cartridges are compatible with Seagate's new Hornet 40GB Travan tape drive and offer 20GB native storage capacity (40GB compressed), while maintaining backward compatibility with Travan 20GB cartridges. Imation also introduced new 32X CD-R media and new line of small format CD-R media includes mini (80mm), which can hold up to 185MB of content and Business Card CD-R media, with write speed of up to 16X, can hold up to 50MB of information or 5.5 minutes of audio files. Business Card CD-R media is expected to ship in January 2002. Finally, the company also introduced new DVD+RW media, which can be rewritten 1,000 times and has an expected archive shelf life of 30 years. [pricing not available]
