Ricoh announces slimline 4MP digital camera

Ricoh today announced its multimedia 4-megapixel Caplio RR1 digital camera with USB connectivity as well as three operating modes, digital still, voice and motion picture.

The $700 compact Caplio RR1 ships standard with a 64MB SmartMedia card and 8 MB of onboard memory. It offers resolutions of up to 2272 x 1704 dpi, a pivoting LCD viewer and a 10.8X zoom (3x optical), and a new text mode, which records printed material or a whiteboard in a black-and-white image. The camera is 26.6 mm (1 in) thin with a sleek metallic body design that "fits comfortably into a shirt pocket."
