A group of developers in our forums have been trying to complete the carbonization of the popular ICQ client, Gerry's ICQ, for Mac OS 10.1. So far, several outstanding bugs have been addressed, and source code is available as well. If you are interested in helping out with this project or testing the applications, visit the website or read the forum thread.

    Oh, Thank you!

I absolutely LOVE Gerry's ICQ. It's interface and ease-of-use is stories above either the Mac or Windows version made by Mirabalis.

Unfortunately, with all the system updates since the last official Gerry's ICQ release, it's become a bit more incompatible ("spinning arrows of death") and I recently had to switch back over to the original ICQ - I hate it. It's interface is large, ugly and difficult to use. Plus it's STILL missing features that were available in Gerry's ICQ and that are available on the PeeCee.

I look forward to being able to use Gerry's ICQ (or some close cousin) again soon. Whoever Carbonizes it, I hope they make it 9 and X compatible.

    wonderful

This is a wonderful effort and I hope it continues. There are many many people who love gICQ, but have had problems as of late. Let's all support this effort best we can, and MacNN - way to go, thanks for supporting this effort!

    Spread the word!

We're currently only a small group, and there are many of us with little programming experience...the more the merrier! Please, spread the word around and help this project reach the critical mass it deserves!

    Gerry's sucks!

Gerry's iCQ used to be better than the official iCQ, but the new iCQ id far superior to Gerry's. I hope you guys make Gerry's superior again, giving us the features the Wintel users have.

    I rather stick with ICQ'

it is not Mirbablis anymore it is ICQ Inc now owned by AOL so it is better to use the official release becasue when AOL/ICQ Inc make change to their server then they only will support their official client softwares not clones.. I do not want any hassle with clones .. so far I am very happy with ICQ Inc's ICQ for Mac OS X so why switch to Gerry's

    ICQ forget it

ICQ- its a great way to get your computer violated-- no matter what they do to it. Someone always figures out how to get in... its already happened.
Get something secure and better... get a life!

    oh, and IM is secure?

Yea, like Im is secure? Get a firewall, if you are worried about being hacked. I have no choice but to you ICQ and I would never use IM to get harrassed by horny freaks in some 3rd world conutry.
