    is this true?

i hope so. i've never been to the Tysons corner store cause I don't have a car and getting there is a hassle but if they open one in Clarendon then I can just hop on the tube and be there in a few minutes.

    More and more ...

Opening the stores is going to be a routine in there days.

How many of them is opened right now? How many left for 25? And what happens when the final one is opened?

    Apple joins the nightlife

Just wanted to let everyone know that Clarendon is an area with restaurants, some bars and the like, a Fresh Fields store, and not a lot of retail. But overall it is a trendy area. I think it is interesting because it is not a "mall" area, but rather high traffic date and dinner destination. It is metro accessible also as previously mentioned and only about 5 stops from DC's Downtown.

PS: Al Gore had a temporary office set up above the blockbuster store in Clarendon! Is there a connection?

    No mall yet, but...

The above poster is correct that there isn't a mall at Clarendon yet, but there will be soon. Clarendon Market is scheduled to open sometime in the near future (December 1?). If you've been up there by Fresh Fields lately you probably noticed a huge complex being built across the street. This is going to be the new mall. It will also have, from what I've heard, apartments and hotels.

Of course while I'm really excited about this store opening, I'm kind of sad that Apple hasn't called me to offer me the Mac Genius position yet ;)

    Good for D.C. area...

It's nice that they have a choice of two Apple Stores within 10-20 miles of each other, when so many parts of the country are hours away from the nearest one.

    Job Opening!

Well they don't mention the store on the Apple Retail page, but if you go into the retail job openings:

Title: Mac Genius - Clarendon, VA
    Req. ID: 1721930
    Location: Clarendon-Market Common-R036, Virginia
    Country: United States

So it's going to be accross Clarendon Blvd from Fresh Fields and Blockbuster. I haven't been by the construction site in a while. I hope they're putting in butt loads of parking. It's always rough, esp. now that the Altman's lot is closed. I'm glad there's going to be a closer store to me, but I wonder if it's a wise move putting it so close to Tysons. Close being a relative term...

The job posting is rather humorous. Under key features:

"Would rather be in the front row of a MacWorld Keynote than have free cable for a year."

"Can delicately identify the difference between a misguided User and an unhealthy Macintosh."

    Under Job Description:

"Maintain a fit and healthy Mac mind and oh yeah, have fun. This is Apple after all."

    Cheers,

    Cincinnati-Probably Delay

    Hello,

You mentioned on the main page that the Cincinnatti store at Kenwood is opening this weekend. While the originally projected date was November 3rd, it is unlikely that it will be ready by then. There is a very good chance that it will be delayed a week.

    Apple in Richmond, VA

Well, I am sure glad that they decided to open another store in NOVA. This gives all of those students and teachers that attend Henrico Public Schools another avenue for purchasing products for their provided ibooks. And to think that both stores are just 2 hours away. This is a brilliant move Apple. Way to go.

Seriously, this is a major M$ town and it is very hard to find apple products. And yet Apple sold a ton of ibooks to Herico Public Schools(see apple.com). I think it is very narrow thinking for Apple to put a ANOTHER store in NOVA without providing one in Richmond.

    Just my thoughts...

    b**** and moan

Why do mac users always b**** and moan when apple does something that they dont like. There is probably a good reason why they are opening another store near washington DC. My thought is the number of people living in that area! Apple has done lots of research to place the stores according to demographics. Buffalo is getting one so I assume other areas will get one too. They have only announced 25 stores with more to come be sure of that.

    Richmond's mac scene

is well covered by Capitol Mac, a store that most likely has done quite well since Henrico leased all though iBooks. For those that don't like to travel downtown there are several Circuit Cities that sell mac products (Circuit CIty is also based in Richmond) and CompUSA's with larger mac selections, but independent places like Capitol Mac are good to buy things.

Support however is expensive there. Not sure if there are other Mac authorized service centers in the area.
