Bitstream today announced that Apple has entered into a long-term agreement to license Bitstream fonts. The fonts for Apple are based on Kingsley-ATF Type Corporation designs: "The fonts that Apple licensed have a simple, elegant look and feel, so they are well suited for the Macintosh. Because of our experience working with application and OS developers who need great looking text on screen, we could offer Apple high-quality fonts from our extensive library."

    Mmmm....I'll bet...

...Apple doesn't really need new typefaces for the operating system. They must be acquiring type for apps like iDVD and iTunes and their "themes."

I want Bitstream's Aurora type face. I like it!

    Dang...

I was hoping they would license the low-quality True-Type rip-offs from Microsoft. Mmmm... like Arial? Who needs Helvetica when you got Arial.

Any-hoo—kudos to Bitstream. Every designer should have at least one BT font floating around incomplete with the missing screen or printer file.

    Unicode fonts?

    Hey!

Let's have some more Unicode fonts, like Lucida Grande, with characters for Central European languages, Russian, Greek, etc.
