Reader: access to iTools with OmniWeb?

Mark Daniel writes about problems accessing Apple's iTools services through OmniWeb 4.05:

"...I tried to sign into my iTools page to mount a public folder today, and I now get a message right after I sign in saying "We don't support your current browser." with download links to IE and Netscape 4.78. BAH! This is a new thing... I've used the iTools pages through OmniWeb 4.05 many times before, never having a problem. Strange that Apple is passively shunning the only browser out there made with Apple's favorite and preferred API's, Cocoa."

    OmniWeb and iTools works

After changing the Compatibility setting to IE 5.1 (MacOSX), OmniWeb worked fine for me (4.1sp5). I can't recall if that choice is available in 4.05

    Shunned Browser

My guess is that it is just an oversight. It is pretty typical to code pages that require IE or NS without taking any extra effort to qualify other browsers.

    same on ADC

Logging in to the apple developer pages is no longer possible too. I could no longer submit bugreports using omniweb... it worked before.

    Public sans browser

You can mount anybodys public folder directly without having to use a browser thanks to the WebDAV support in Mac OS X and iDisk. Just enter http://idisk.mac.com//Public in the Finder's connect to... dialog.

Note: Put the account name of the person whos public folder you are trying to mount in the (But you knew that of course)

    Omniweb

    This is very old news!
OmniWeb 4.0.5 has never worked properly with iTools!
OmniWeb 4.0.5 support for JavaScript is very poor, and makes it unusable for many web activities ( onine banking is on). 4.1 will fix this...
