Office v.X 'free' upgrade confusion in US,

Tom Schwab notes differences in the US and UK cutoff dates for Microsoft's free Office v. X upgrade:

"I just purchased Office 2001 for the Mac and received my software October 17th. Unfortunately according to this web page: the free upgrade to Office v.X will be given to USA purchases after October 24th. Otherwise the upgrade will be $149...However, if you purchase Office 2001 for the Mac after September 1st in the UK (nearly 8 weeks earlier) you will receive a free Office v.X upgrade according to this web page. The discrepancy may cost me $149 as my USA purchase was one week too early...I've e-mailed Microsoft about this discrepancy of which your readers may be interested."

    return it..

    and re-buy it.

    Usually you can return stuff in 30 days.. that'll clear up that sillyness.

    woohoo

    For once, the UK isn't on the sucker end of things! Most of the time, we have to pay 25% more and we have to wait longer.
    Stop whining and take it like a sucker!
