MaverickTrader has issued an investment opinion on Apple's stock, predicting that the company's shares will move lower this week due to last week's earnings report and the "lackluster" iPod announcment. "Based on fundamental, technical, and news-related issues, MaverickTrader.Com believes the next week will find these stocks with price action in accord with their rating," said Senior Editor, Dewey Burchett.

here's what maverick trader said about apple's performance LAST week...

MaverickTrader Stock Picks Senior Editor, Dewey Burchett, has published his ratings on key stocks for the next 5 trading days. In his report, Burchett says that Apple's shares will likely move lower over the next week, based on "fundamental, technical and news-related items."

...after which, apple shares INCREASED in value by about $2 (roughly 11.5%).

apple's stock prices traditionally rise on anticipation of unannounced new products, and fall when those products are announced. what kind of analyst doesn't know that?

    Re: analyst without a clu

Good for you to expose this guy. "Maverick," in fact, seems to be a particularly striking case of cluelessness, especially when it comes to AAPL.

MacNN: why do you bother to report the moronic drivel of this 'analyst' web site?

thanks for the encouragement, but these guys just irritate me. :)

as if to underscore my point, apple's share price has jumped as much as 80 cents higher since mavericktrader's announcement this morning. i hope to god that nobody's moving their money around based on this guy's advice.

to be fair, though, anybody making predictions in the current economic climate runs a big risk of looking foolish.

    lackluster?

Why did that Maverick fool list the iPod announcement as "lackluster"? I am extremely excited about the product, as is a friend and co-worker of mine who works exclusively on PCs. He's miffed now; he wants the iPod badly, but can't use it with his PC. I just laughed. For once, I'm on the envied side of the fence...

    re:lackluster?

different people seem to have wildly different perspectives on the iPod and its chances for success. to judge from macnn's own comment thread on it, though, as people think more about the iPod, it becomes more appealing. i doubt that the guy at maverick took the time --or has the technological perspective-- to understand the product's potential. there are 7 million users with firewire-capable macs out there, a big chunk of them are going to want iPods, a smaller (but not insignificant) chunk of them are going to be willing to pay $400 for it, and apple's profit margin on the pods may be very high.

according to steve jobs, your PC-exclusive friend will probably be able to get a PC-friendly iPod sometime next year.
