Adam Little also notes the release of new Epson drivers (see yesterday's news), providing some comments:

"...Epson posted the MacOS X printer drivers for the Stylus C40, C60, C80, and Photo 785EPX. I bought a C80 a few weeks ago and have been waiting for the OS X drivers. The drivers are nearly fully-featured (one feature I wish they'd put in is the ink monitor). Epson also has a page with the schedule for driver releases for their other models.

"The drivers (at least the C80 driver) have support for printing over an AppleTalk network. I have an EpsonNET 10/100 print server attached to my printer, and it works like a charm, with no flaws at all."

    mmm. No mention of the Stylus Photo 790 anywhere...

    New Epson Driver Release

    Epson provides an application for checking the ink levels. Its in the utilitiy folder of the printers/espon folder and its call the Epson Printer Utility.

    I tried to post a message to the same effect at uni today but due to MacNN's rather useless login system (which sometimes thinks you're called and sometimes is convinced you're not logged in at all), I couldn't!

    Older Stylus Printers

    I'm glad to see that Epson is indeed releasing drivers on the scheduel they announced. I just wish they would do something for those of us with the older printers in the 700 series. My printer is only a couple of years old, but Epson has no mention of it on thier OS X page. Thank god the old drivers still work through classic for classic apps. BTW if anybody is wondering it's a Stylus Photo 700.
