Apple announced that shipments of its iBook notebook to education tripled in the fiscal 2001 fourth quarter over the prior-year quarter. Sales grew by 205 percent. (Apple was the leading supplier of portable computers to the U.S. education market for calendar year 2000, according to market research firm IDC, with 18.2% marketshare.)
