Marvell has announced that Apple has selected its Alaska Ultra (88E1011) Gigabit Ethernet over copper transceiver for use in the new Titanium PowerBook G4. The Alaska Ultra device is used directly on the motherboard, offering "the industry's lowest power consumption and smallest form factor package. [It] is also the industry's first device to support advanced power management modes, which can substantially prolong battery life."
