IBM weathers downturn, beats estimates

IBM has reported earnings of $1.6 billion or 90 cents per share, down 20 percent from $2.0 billion in the year-ago quarter. In its fiscal report, IBM said that its microelectronics business, which sells semiconductors to Apple and other companies, saw a revenue decline of 30 percent.
