Computer accessory manufacturer Adata today launched the Lightning Card Reader for Apple iOS devices. Fully MFi certified, the accessory connects to Apple devices using the Lightning interface and brings users convenient interconnectivity and storage expansion with SD and microSD cards. British Airways is introducing new hardware to its check-in systems, in order to cope with the popularity of the Apple Watch and the airline's mobile app. New Scan and Go devices that British Airways claims will make the process quicker for wearers of the smartwatch, with 136 of the scanners being installed at check-in desks across terminal 3 and terminal 5 at London's Heathrow airport for use by passengers from December 15.

When we reviewed Citymapper back in March, we concluded that it was very impressive, and that it could only get more so as it added further cities to its list of supported regions. According to US retail chain Target, its record shopping day over the Thanksgiving holiday was down to three specific items, with two of them being Apple products: the iPad product line, and the Apple Watch product line. Nintendo's Wii U was the chief third-party item to reach that level of popularity. The retailer reported that it sold one iPad model every second, and that Apple's own Beats headphones were also a popular item.

Samsung has replaced the head of its phone business in its annual management shakeup, in an attempt to fix its mobile division's continuing financial decline. JK Shin is out as leader after four years at the top, with Koh Dong Jin taking control of the division and tasked with reversing the ongoing revenue trend, with the change potentially signaling a change of priorities for the mobile business from a focus on hardware and devices towards software and services.

AT&T is increasing the rate of its unlimited data plans by $5, bringing the cost of the now-discontinued plan to $35. Blaming higher amounts of data usage by consumer and business customers, the carrier will be making the change from February next year, affecting all customers grandfathered into the plan since it ended, and will in fact be the first increase in price for the unlimited data plan in a seven-year period.

A China-specific version of the Apple News app is being produced, and could go live soon, according to comments made by Eddy Cue. Speaking in an interview about the app's impact on the publishing industry, Cue says Apple wants "to deliver as great of an experience in China as we do here in the US" for Apple News, while also dismissing the suggestion Apple is having problems dealing with censorship in the country.

Adobe has rolled out a large number of updates to its Creative Cloud apps and services, with the majority of changes already previewed as part of announcements made at the start of October. Updates have been applied to many of the major apps from the suite, including enhancements to the user interface, support for touchscreens, and support for new formats, along with the introduction of Fuse CC.
Two studies from Custora and Adobe have confirmed that Apple's iOS platform again dominated US mobile e-commerce sales from Thanksgiving through Cyber Monday, although the total percentage was down slightly from last year. Black Friday sales from mobile devices accounted for a total of nearly 40 percent this year, jumping to 39.3 percent, up five percent. Mobile sales for the entire long weekend made up nearly 32 percent of online orders.

Owners of Sonos speakers will soon be able to play songs from Apple Music through the network-connected audio devices, if they take part in a trial. Support for Apple's streaming music service will start from December 15, though it will apparently be available in a public beta at first, with the speaker producer asking for users register to take part and to supply feedback on it, before it becomes more widely available from early next year.

An Apple customer has been successful in suing the company over the loss of photos and contacts stored on an iPhone 5, took in for repairs at a London Apple Store in the United Kingdom. Deric White wanted £5,000 ($7,500) from Apple for the deletion of the photographs, which were wiped when a Genius Bar employee at the Regent Street store looked at the device, with White receiving £1,200 ($1,800) in compensation for the loss and £770 ($1,100) in court costs.

Apple on Monday resumed its weekly release of OS X betas for both developers and pre-registered public testers with a new beta of OS X El Capitan 10.11.2. The new build is numbered as 15C48a, and contains the same general notes as the other betas in the series, focusing on bug fixes and performance tweaks rather than introducing any new features. The new release comes two weeks after the last beta.
