On August 19, 2008, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Apple’s latest trademark applications for iDisk under application 77547535. Apple has filed iDisk under International Class 042 which is listed in full below. Apple has also filed their third trademark application this year related to Macintosh. In April, Apple’s US application 77437252 listed only International Class 009. Their EU application 006984314 which was filed in June, listed International Classes 009, 035 and 037. Apple’s latest EU application 007133598 for Macintosh was filed under International Classes 016, 038, 041 and 042 which are listed in full below. The hyperactivity related to the Macintosh trademark may be in support of new or refreshed Macintosh products slated for later this year. In fact, Apple’s inclusion of International Class 038 in respect to the Macintosh trademark is a twist that can’t be ignored. This class is reserved for telecommunication devices and/or services. Is this clue telling us that the Macintosh lineup and MacBooks in particular, could be gaining iPhone like capabilities? Yowza! – Now that could be quite the leap for Apple’s MacBook lineup that would really crank up the excitement. If not, then the inclusion of 038 could also be pointing to Live broadcast television services which are also listed in all International Classifications related to the Macintosh below.
