On February 29, 2008, the US Patent & Trademark Office published Apple’s figurative trademark for the iMac under application 77402800.
Apple’s application, filled under International Classification 009 for computers, claims that “the mark consists of the configuration of a computer, including a flat, roughly triangular shaped stand, a generally flat case having rounded corners, and a rectangular monitor screen within a framing case having a wide lower boarder, all such features arranged in an aesthetically pleasing manner, as shown in the drawing accompanying the Application.” The trademark Symbol for the iMac is shown here to your right and Apple’s specimen acting as proof of commercial use could be found here.
Earlier this month, Apple filed for a figurative trademark symbol for the iPod Shuffle under International Classification 009, which is in this case, covered “portable and handheld digital electronic devices for playing, recording, organizing, transmitting, manipulating, and reviewing audio files,” according to their application 77389539. Apple’s proof of commercial-use specimen was a webpage from their US Apple Store.
