MacNN's Friday freebie column for February 26, 2016
As with our usual Daily Deals post warning, items listed in this post are free at the time of publication, but the offer may end or alter at a later time, so check before accepting the freebie.
On the MacNN Deals store, designers may want to pick up the BundleStorm Design Assets package, which includes thousands of photographs, icons, textures, and vectors that you can use in your next project. If you want to show off said project to a client, why not try the Smarty Creative Bundle, which includes 40 PSD mockups that you can put your latest design onto, so you can spend time getting its final appearance just right.
Live in London? Here's something that surfaced earlier this week. Every Monday from February 29 to March 14, people paying for transit over the Transport for London network (including buses and the London Underground itself) using Apple Pay with a MasterCard will get their travel for the day completely free.
Since Monday is February 29, you may want to check out some of the free offers at major chain restaurants that you might be able to take advantage of for the day, but with only one tricky date-related condition. If you or someone you know was born on February 29, take proof to a Pizza Hut on Monday, as the chain is offering free one-topping Personal Pan Pizza for carryout at many locations. A similar deal can be had at the Hard Rock Cafe, with those born on February 29 can get a free entre from the Leapings Eat Free menu, including the Legendary Burger, Twisted Mac, Hickory-Smoked Pulled Pork Sandwich, and Grilled Chicken Caesar Salad. Olive Garden is providing four free Dolcini with a coupon from its Facebook page.
The current Free App Of The Week on the App Store is the game HoPiKo. in this platformer, you have to jump between platforms quickly by tapping the display, with a mis-step taking the character to their doom. Alternative free apps you can get right now include The Sequence, a puzzle game that tasks players with placing various modules to transfer a binary cell across a specific path, over 72 different levels, and the fitness app Running Pro by 99Sports.
