Daily Deals: Thunderbolt display, $20 Blu-ray player, Steam Sale

MacNN and Electronista deals for June 11, 2015

Welcome to Daily Deals, the post where we search the Internet for offers, sales, discounts, and bundles on hardware, software, and gadgets for you, the discerning MacNN and Electronista reader. All the old dead deals are gone, though still-active deals are listed, including the iTunes credit offer, with new additions including a Blu-ray player for $20, an Apple 27-inch Thunderbolt display, and the start of the Steam Summer Sale.

As always, all deals are correct at the time of going to press, but may change in the future, so check first before purchasing. Also, remember to come back to this post later, as new deals could be added to the list as the day goes on. If you spot a deal we've missed, please email us and we may add it later on.

New Deals

The biggest day of PC gaming's summer has arrived. Valve has started its infamous Steam Summer Sale, which includes hefty discounts on games and bundles, with both daily deals as well as flash sales and community-voted sales that last only a few hours. Keep checking the sales page every so often to see if a game you want suddenly becomes up for grabs, though it is advised to wait a few hours after it refreshes, as the store is effectively DDOS'd whenever it updates.

TigerDirect.com's daily deal slasher today is on the PNY 480GB CS111 internal 2.5-inch solid state drive. This drive carries a list price of $200, but has been reduced to $160. A $10 mail-in-rebate drops the price down to $150, beating the next lowest price by $8.

Today only at BestBuy.com, get the Windows 10.1-inch tablet with 32GB of storage on sale for $130. That's $40 off their regular price of $170, and about $30 less than the lowest price offered anywhere else.

Also at BestBuy today are the Skullcandy Hesh 2 headphones priced at only $30. That's $30 off the list price of $60, and the lowest price we have seen by $15.

At Walmart.com today, get the refurbished Acer 19.5-inch LED display on sale for only $60. That's $30 off their regular price of $90, and $56 less than buying it in brand new condition anywhere else.

Adorama is offering the Apple 27-inch Thunderbolt Display for $1,000, but with a mail-in-rebate dropping the price down to $800.

Want a Blu-ray player? TigerDirect has the Philips Blu-ray Player for $35, down from $80. If you are quick, a mail-in rebate ending on June 13 cuts another $15 off the price, making it $20.

Do you need a server? Newegg's eBay store is offering the HP ProLiant ML10 Tower Server for $190 instead of $560. The server includes an Intel Xeon E3-1220 quad-core 3.1GHz processor, 2GB of RAM, and a 300W power supply, with plenty of room for you to put your savings into adding storage and increasing the RAM to what you need.

Boosting the storage speed is always a good way to make a computer feel quicker, especially aging notebooks. The Transcend Information 256GB SSD on Amazon is $72 until the end of today, saving $158 from its normal price.

Dell is selling the Vizio 55-inch LED Smart TV for $630, which is a pretty decent deal on it's own, but Dell also adds in another $200 gift card as part of the order to sweeten it.

If you want to get fit and start down the 'quantified self' path, the Jawbone Up24 Fitness Tracker may be a good choice. BestBuy's eBay store is stocking it at $130.

Do you need an Xbox Live Gold Membership? ProGameCards on eBay is selling a 12-month membership for just $37.

The JBL J88i Premium Over-Ear Headphones with Microphone has been cut down significantly on Newegg, from $150 down to $20.

If a new router is on your shopping list, Newegg may have what you need. The D-Link DAP-1650 Wireless AC1200 Dual-Band Gigabit Range Extender is $90, down from $120, but promo code EMCATKK88 will cut the price further to $60 until June 17.

Need to get a basic Android tablet? The Refurbished LG G Pad 7.0 with a seven-inch display, quad-core processor, and 16GB of storage is on eBay for a cheap $65.


Still Active Deals

Need a Lightning to USB cable? Newegg's listing the Coboc iSync MFi Certified and Apple Approved 6ft Lightning to USB Cable for $10, down from $20, with $3 delivery. A mail-in rebate knocks another $10 off the cost, making the cable effectively free, with only delivery to pay.

If you are in the market for a large monitor, the LG 34UM65 34-inch 21:9 UltraWide Monitor with a resolution of 2560x1080 for $490. Compared to the list price of $700, that's a great deal.

Do you use a lot of Microsoft services? The Microsoft Store is offering the Microsoft Work and Play bundle, consisting of one-year subscriptions of Office 365 Home, Wi-Fi and Skype Unlimited World, and Xbox Live Gold for $149, saving over $240 from buying them separately. The package also includes a three-month Netflix gift subscription and a $60 bonus gift card, to sweeten the deal.

Fancy grabbing a Beats by Dre Pill Bluetooth Speaker? Groupon was originally selling them for $140, a discount of 35 percent from its normal price, but it has knocked another 7 percent, bringing it down to $130.

Apple's Certified Refurbished store has started to sell the iPad mini 3 for the first time. For $340, you can pick up a refurbished iPad mini 3 Wi-Fi 16GB in Silver while the 64GB Wi-Fi version in Silver and Space Gray are $420.

The Brother HL-L2380DW Monochrome Multifunction Laser Printer is going for almost half price on Newegg, selling for $85. The network-connected printer includes a 2.7-inch display, a print speed of up to 32 pages per minute, and color scanning functionality.

Do you want to have more control over your electrical devices? The Etekcity five pack of Self Learning Electrical Power Outlet Switches can be used to remotely turn on and off lamps and other items directly from the plug, using its two wireless remote controls. The pack is $25 on Newegg, down from $71, and will remain at that price until June 21.

Canon Father's Day sale with some good pricing on refurbished cameras. Rebel SL1s with long lenses for $650 (versus $1,000) and up to 57 percent off other prices

The Microsoft Store has a few game-related deals for its consoles. On the Xbox One, Tomb Raider: Definitive Edition is $15, down $5, while the Xbox 360's Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes has gone down from $7 to $5.

Want to extend your network with more ports? The Netgear ProSAFE 8-port Gigabit Desktop Switch on Newegg is reduced from $60 down to $40, with a $10 rebate card bringing it down to $30. Promo code EMCATAX36 will knock another $10 off the price until June 15.

On eBay, the Apple-refurbished MacBook Pro 13.3-inch notebook with a 2.3GHz Core i5 processor, 4GB of RAM, and 320GB of storage is $610.

If you want a pre-owned Third-generation Apple TV, now may be the best time, as it's $55 on eBay.

Need to back up your computer? The Seagate Expansion 5TB USB 3.0 External Hard Drive on Newegg's eBay store is $117, down from its list price of $230.

Fancy a good-looking speaker to go with the rest of your high-end home cinema? The Polk Audio CSi5 Cherry RTi Center Channel Speaker on Polk's eBay store is $215, down from $480.

Are you a fan of Blizzard games? Best Buy is selling a number of the company's titles cheaply under the BB Gamer's Club membership. StarCraft II and the Heart of the Swarm expansion are $8 each, while Diablo III: Reaper of Souls - Ultimate Evil Edition for the Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are half price at $30.
