Friday Deals: 65-inch LG 4K TV, Steam Halloween sale, more

MacNN and Electronista deals for October 31, 2014

It is time for the last Friday Deals of October! Every Friday, we search the Internet for deals on gadgets, peripherals, accessories, apps, and games for you, the discerning MacNN and Electronista reader. As today is Halloween, don't be too surprised to see sales and deals with a spooky theme. As usual, all prices are verified at the time of publication, and may or may not be valid if you're reading this at a later date, so check before you buy. Be sure to check over the weekend, as it is likely more deals will be added to the list.

MacNN and Electronista giveaways

Earlier today, we decided to take part in the Halloween tradition of Trick or Treating, albeit without offering candy on doorsteps. Instead, we've set up a central page leading to competitions for various "Treats," along with some "Tricks." Head on over and try your luck.

Hardware

Those of you in the market for a large-screened television may want to look at Best Buy, with deals running until November 1 including a Sharp Aquos Q+ 80-inch HDTV for two cents under $4,000 (a discount of $1,500), while the LG 65-inch 4K Ultra HD TV is discounted $1,000 to $2,800, and also ships with a GoPro Hero4 Black 4K action camera, worth $500.

On its pumpkin-colored Frankenstein Friday page, Newegg is offering system builders a 3TB WD Red drive for networked-attached storage for $11 using a promo code, a Crucial M550 256GB SSD for $130, and a Samsung 840 EVO 120GB SSD for $75, along with a host of other components, peripherals, and software. It is worth noting that some of the deals run out at midnight PT on October 31, so you may have to act fast for some of the deals.

Over at Dell, the company is offering up to 29 percent off select displays, with the highlight being the U2713HM UltraSharp 27 monitor, with the 27-inch 2560x1440 display, discounted $160 to $640. If you would rather have a slightly cheaper variant but retaining the size, the P2714H 27-inch monitor, complete with a 1920x1080 resolution, is down $50 to a more wallet-friendly $350.

Software

Steam is holding a Halloween sale, with hefty discounts of up to 90 percent off hundreds of games and add-ons until November 3. Though meant to be a spooky sale, with games such as The Walking Dead, the Left 4 Dead franchise, and Limbo making an appearance, the list also includes a few decidedly off-theme titles, including Spec Ops: The Line, Prison Architect, and Hotline Miami.

GoG is also holding its own Halloween sale, which runs until late on Monday night, boasting of games up to 85 percent off their normal price. Notable items on sale include System Shock 2, Costume Quest, Tesla Effect: A Tex Murphy Adventure, and for the braver individuals, Amnesia: A Machine for Pigs.
