Mindscape has reportedly put an end to its Nabaztag project, which had focused on a rabbit-like ambient device connected via Wi-Fi. A Gizmofusion report notes that the related services appear to have been taken offline, including violet.net and nabaztag.com. The devices are said to be left lifeless without the server interactions.
The devices had allowed users to send and receive MP3s or messages to other users, while also supporting voice commands and providing access to features such as weather forecasts, stock reports, alarm clocks, news, and RSS feeds, among others.
To help alleviate concerns from current customers, Mindscape has released the source code for the device and its servers. Getting the services back online, however, will require the community to use the code and figure out their own solution.
