The Sprint version of the Motorola Xoom was confirmed late Friday through a strategic leak by a known good source. Coming from the same Sprint Users forum member that showed the MiFi 4082, the image shows the Android 3.0 tablet with conspicuous Sprint badging in place of the Verizon logo users see today. He didn't say whether it would have WiMAX, but it's considered a near certainty.
The slate should be virtually identical other than the inclusion of 4G. The Xoom runs on a dual-core 1GHz Tegra 2 processor and has both a back five-megapixel camera as well as a front two-megapixel camera for chat. Both the Verizon and Wi-Fi only editions have 32GB of built-in storage, making it probable Sprint would go the same route.
Given that the sighting confirms rumors, it should be announced if not necessarily shipped in April. The same rumor also had a variant on the Atrix announced at the same time. Both would be attempts by Motorola and Sprint to minimize the effect of the Verizon iPhone and give Sprint more high-end devices, including an alternative to the iPad 2.
