Acer will join the other smartphone makers that use Windows Phone 7 as their OS, the company's representative toldPocket-Lint recently. The first WP7-powered Acer phones will arrive either in September or October, and include the second official and major update from Microsoft. This should also be the same time frame as Nokia's WP7 handsets arrive.
Acer currently has Android-powered phones, though late last year company CEO Gianfranco Lanci said Windows Phone 7 devices are under development. At the time, he said Windows Phone 7 offers the same opportunity for customization as Android. How many Acer handsets will run on WP7 hasn't been revealed, though it's expected to be more than one.
