Positioned as inexpensive competition for AutoCAD
ProgeCAD has announced iCADMac, positioning the new software as an alternative to Autodesk's AutoCAD. The new software is capable of both 2D and 3D CAD functionality and fully supports the Autodesk DWG file format. It is based on ACIS and supports ACIS Solid Modeling libraries, while PDF to DWG conversion and PDF export are also supported.
Other capabilities include raster and image management, polygonal viewports and multiple-view main windows running simultaneously. The software supports Lisp and C++, and can work with any DWG file from version 2.5 to the present 2010/2011 versions. An advanced rendering module is promised in a future release.
iCADMac requires an Intel-based Mac and is available in multiple licensing schemes, such as single, network or USB dongle portable licenses. A single license costs $1260. (Via architosh.com...)
